Welcome to the CEPU Tasmanian Branch newsletter, The Southern Cross. We chose this name for our newsletter for a couple of reasons: the flag itself represents the historic struggle to improve the lives of working people; and as the southern most state in the country, I think it's more appropriate for us than most. I am sure some of our mainland Union colleagues would argue the point but of course, we are happy to share the emblem.
The purpose of our newsletter is not only for the CEPU to communicate with members, but for our members to communicate with each other. Communication gives people power in their workplace; in Tasmania the effectiveness is even more noticeable because our tight knit communities have high expectations and won't tolerate bad employment practices.
